Ceramic workshop - Session 2

Obvara Firing Session

The pots you made on DAY 1 will have been biscuit fired ready for the Obvara firing in the Raku kiln. You will see your pot being taken out of the hot kiln and plunged into a mixture of yeast, sugar and water for a second or two. When it comes out of the Obvara mixture, you will see it change its appearance magically before your eyes! It then goes into a bucket of cold water to cool. When it is cool, you will have a unique, and special, creation to take home.

This is an exciting process but, because of safety issues, you must be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout this session.

DUO-Purple&Black.jpg

Thursday, 21st July,  8pm

Simon Mayor & Hilary James

If the duo have a speciality, it is an ability to combine a truly diverse array of talents into a hugely entertaining stage show. There can’t be many performers who slide easily from a beautifully evocative Irish ballad into a mandolin and guitar version of Handel’s Arrival of the Queen of Sheba. Their wry sense of humour and an easy, informal stage manner holds it all together.

Alexandra in her comparatively short career has brought youthful verve, vigour and enthusiasm to the world of classical guitar. Her range of top musical awards is impressive; and she has already accomplished what many guitar players might hope to achieve in an entire career.
